Job Description

St. Lukes South Shore - EVS Zero Assigned or Casual. Varied shifts & weekend hour as needed for coverage.

Performs required cleaning tasks according to written procedures. Gathers and disposes of recyclables, trash and medical waste and gathers soiled linens for transport. Cleans all environmental surfaces including: ceilings and vents, doors, furniture, beds, bathroom fixtures and windows using approved equipment and supplies. Fills and cleans supply dispensers. Cleans and prepares dismissal and transfer units. Cleans and maintains floor surfaces with dry and wet mops and vacuum cleaners. Keeps service closets clean and neat. Adheres to Standard Precautions policies. Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills / Requirements

General Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and previous experience preferred. Ability to read and understand written and oral communication is required. The ability to perform responsibilities in a self-directed and fast-paced environment and excellent customer service skills are essential. Also must have the ability to walk and stand the majority of the shift. Must have the ability to understand the physical arrangements of the hospital. Requires the ability to perform tasks with due consideration for doctors, nurses, patients, public and other hospital staff. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach above shoulders. Must also be able to push, pull and lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Must have ability to wear protective clothing as will be exposed to strong germicidal solutions, cleaning chemicals, temperature changes, soiled linen, infectious waste and blood.
