FVTC provides a broad range of benefits to eligible faculty, support staff, and management staff beginning on the first day of employment.

Medical Insurance
A traditional medical plan is provided for full-time staff at FVTC expense. Participation in the College's major medical, dental, and drug insurance plans is elective. In lieu of medical insurance, the College will deposit a predetermined percent of premium into the employee's individual tax-sheltered annuity plan, a program known as the TSA Option.

Flexible Spending Account
Employees annually elect whether to participate in the optional Flexible Spending Account (FSA) program. The FSA allows employees to deposit pre-tax dollars into an individual account for medical and/or dependent day care expenses. Reimbursement is received from the account when an eligible expense is incurred and documentation is submitted to the plan administrator. FSA administration fees are paid by the College.

Life Insurance
FVTC pays the entire cost of a basic life insurance plan that includes an accidental death and dismemberment feature. Full-time employees are provided basic term life insurance in the face amount of $50,000, with prorated levels of coverage provided for eligible part-time staff. Employees may elect to purchase supplemental insurance for themselves and/or family members. A separate seat belt life insurance policy provides a $10,000 death benefit in the event an employee's death occurs as the result of a vehicle accident. Payable only if the employee is wearing his/her seat belt and not driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, this benefit promotes practice of a healthy lifestyle.

Disability Insurance
Long-term disability insurance is also provided at no expense to the employee. This insurance guards against loss of income in the event that an employee becomes disabled due to long-term illness or injury (more than 90 days). This benefit provides the disabled employee with 90 percent of his/her contract salary, and includes a cost of living adjustment (COLA) feature.

Leaves of AbsenceThe College complies with the Wisconsin Family and Medical Leave Act (WFMLA) and the federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Additional leaves include sabbatical leave, occupational leave, bereavement leave, military leave, emergency and personal leave, jury duty leave, and sick leave. Staff with insufficient sick leave accumulated to provide salary continuation for short-term illnesses may withdraw paid sick leave time from the Sick Leave Pool.

Additional Benefits

Additional benefits include Wisconsin Retirement System contributions, tuition reimbursements, internal training opportunities, workers compensation salary continuation, paid vacation, and a vacation bank option. An on-site day care center is available to students and staff for children ages 3 months to 6 years.
