The Medication Assistant will:

  • Under the supervision of the RN, Supervising RN and Director of Nursing, prepare, dispense, administer and record medications in standards of nursing practice, facility policies and procedures, and federal and state regulations
  • Perform certain treatments as allowed by facility policy and state and federal regulations, and duties shall be consistent with licensing requirements
  • Provide direct resident care based on individualized resident care plan, physician orders and according to policies and procedures established by Aspirus Care & Rehab.

Candidate must have:

· Completed an approved of instruction in Medication Administration and have current certification as a Medication Assistant.

  • Ability to use aseptic technique and have knowledge of infection control procedures and Universal Precautions.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately and maintain and uphold standards of nursing practice.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of the health care team.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing. Must be able to write clear and accurate reports and make accurate observations and evaluations.
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, react in emergency situations, and make precise observations and decisions within scope of training.
  • Honesty, dependability, and ability to exhibit a caring manner toward residents, form therapeutic and professional relationships with residents and communicate effectively with residents, staff, physicians and family members.
  • Adherence to the departmental dress code.
  • Ability to safely perform the Essential Job Functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Prior Nursing & Rehab experience and knowledge of the aging process, dementia, and chronic disease of the elderly preferred, but not required.
