Job Description

Overall Job Objective

General Description

Instruct Zumba and/or Zumba Gold fitness classes for participants 13 years and up.  Rate of pay is $16.50 - $20.75 per hour based on experience and certifications. 

Hours: Varies on number of classes taught; ranges from 1.25 hours up to 7.5 hours per week. One to four days per week;  sessions range from 6 – 7 weeks.  Primarily evenings; potential for subbing in the morning classes.  Classes run for 45 minutes and sessions continue throughout the year. Positions available year-round.  Instructors paid 15 minutes before and after class plus receive incentive pay based upon number of participants enrolled.
Work Location – Classes held at the De Pere Community Center, Dickinson Elementary School & West De Pere High School.

Essential Functions

Teach Zumba classes to a variety of ages and skill levels.  

Provide music and choreograph routines to include warm ups, stretching, low to high-intensity dance/cardio moves, and cool downs. 

Take attendance, complete paperwork & timesheets as necessary.

Communicate with participants and maintain good relations with staff and public.

Maintain appropriate safety measures for program participants. 

Work independently and reliably complete tasks on time

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Applicant should have the ability to maintain licensing as a Zumba instructor; perform and instruct beginning to advanced levels in Zumba and deliver modifications to meet specific needs and ages; lift, move and handle minimum of 30 lbs.;  administer first aid and/or CPR as needed; relate and work well with participants, communicate effectively, and motivate participants; provide constructive feedback and a positive learning atmosphere. 

Knowledge of: basic anatomy & physiology; healthy lifestyle principles and proper/safe exercise including stretching, alignment, and combinations of dance/cardio movement; cuing; fitness vocabulary.  Possess:  energy, enthusiasm, resourcefulness, creativity, problem-solving and leadership skills; consistently provide quality customer service

Minimum Requirements & Physical Requirements

  1. Current Zumba license required.
  2. ZIN membership preferred.
  3. Previous teaching experience a plus. 
  4. CPR certification desired but not required.
  5. At least 16 years of age.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
