Description

The lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. Reports to:Aquatics Program DirectorEssential Job Functions:1.Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies2.Respond to emergencies following facility emergency action plan3.Follow facility rules and regulations in all areas4.Be thorough in daily observance of the facility and its users5.Understand the facility characteristics, rules, policies and procedures6.Inspect facility daily to ensure its safety7.Oversee check in process and collect fees from patrons as needed8.Ensure the facility opens and closes on time 9.Follow opening and closing procedures10.Accurately complete all necessary records and reports11.Exercise regularly to maintain fitness level for strength and endurance12.Attend staff meetings and training as required13.Make sure Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR certifications are maintained according to facility policy14. Work independently and cooperatively with staff, patrons and other personal15.Provide cleanup requirements as asked in the event of an emergency 16.Comply with the staff rules and procedures as defined in the employee handbookMarginal Job Functions:1.All other duties as assigned which relate to the functions of the job

Qualifications

Job Requirements Qualifications:1.Current Certification in Life guarding from a nationally recognized association (Red Cross, YMCA, Ellis etc)2.Current Certification in First Aid and CPR for professionals from a nationally recognized association (AHA, Red Cross etc.)3.Ability to respond to emergencies in a professional and mature manner4.Posses leadership and public relations skills5.Posses appropriate decision making skills6.Effective verbal and written communication skills7.Ability to follow directionsRequirements of Essential Functions:Occasional (1-33%) bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, walking, squatting reaching and stair climbing in order to perform essential job functionsLifting:0-10 pounds constantly (66-100%)10-25 pounds frequently (34-66%)Over 50 pounds occasionally (1-33%)
